v4.10 Live

v4.10 (and v7.8 of the iPhone version) are now live on the AppStore. Lots of new features and fixes - the headliners being:

• Tick Gesture to mark tasks as complete. Drag a topic along the path of a tick/check mark to set its progress to 100%
• More MS Word export options. Export as bullet lists or tables (see here)
• Reader Mode. Swipe the toolbar up to hide it and place the map in a temporary read-only mode (good for presentations)
• Topic specific hyperlinks which can be embedded in other maps and even other apps. Tap on the target topic and choose Copy then Link.

Preview: I’ve been working on improving the MS Word (and Pages) .docx export function. There are now 3 options:

• Export as headers (the current option)
• Export as bullet points
• Export as table

Please see below for screenshots of the different outputs (my favourite is at the bottom - table view!)

PDF bug

There is an issue with the PDF export from the latest version iThoughts (v4.7 iPad and v7.5 iPhone)

Adobe Reader (Windows) complains that there are errors in the PDF and then only displays the branch link lines (not the text) - see below for an example:

I am pleased to announce that v4.7 is now live on the AppStore. This is another major release which adds the following features:

• Export to PowerPoint/Keynote (PPTX) format.
• Export to Word/Pages (DOCX) format.
• Split a branch off into another map (and link ‘em together)
• Copy a branch off into another map (good for templates)
• Export, email, upload the selected branch (in addition to the entire map.)
• Text on relationship links

A similar set of features is also available in a new v7.5 version of the iPhone app.

Powerpoint PPTX Support

After Word/Pages (.docx) support, one of the other popular requests is for Powerpoint/Keynote (.pptx) support.

By way of a demo, I used the ‘Research’ feature (and Wikipedia) to put together a quick map on the subject of Charles Dickens. I then exported this as a Powerpoint/Keynote file.

Another sneak peek at some forthcoming features. These have been ‘on my list’ for literally years now (not something I’m proud of - sorry!)

Anyway, finally got round to implementing the options to :

• Email, upload, share etc. the currently selected branch rather than the entire map.
• Split the currently selected branch off into another map and establish a link between the two (great for breaking up large maps.)
