Good question - and the answer is - it depends :-)

There is no hard limit on the number (or size) of topics that can be created/imported into iThoughts - but there is a limit nonetheless (based on available system resources - memory etc. - which in turn depends upon your device)

Generally speaking:

1. •If the map will fit on the canvas then it will load/display ok. The canvas covers approximately 900 ‘screens’ of area.
   

2. •1000 average topics (some with average notes) should load up ok (but may not fit on the canvas!)
   

Any other limits I should know about?

1. •Generating a PNG image is a resource intensive operation and iThoughts artificially limits the size (by area) of map which can be exported. Excess topics will be chopped (from the image.) The max image size is approx. 100 screens of map (4200x4200 pixels)
   

2. •PDF exports can be as large as the canvas itself (900 screens)
   

What happens when the limits are exceeded?

1. •The app will run out of memory and terminate without warning.
   

NB: when talking in terms of area and screens it should be noted that 100 screens is only 10 screens across and 10 screens down’ish.
